Cambridge moved to the brink of relegation from League One after losing 2-1 to Leyton Orient.

The U’s led for a long period after Josh Stokes put them in front, only for Charlie Kelman and Jamie Donley to score in the final quarter of the game.

Orient were denied early on when Jack Stevens made a good low save from Donley’s free-kick and they then fell behind after 17 minutes.

Sullay Kaikai was set free on the left and his deep cross was turned back across by Ryan Loft for Stokes to head home.

Chances had been scarce for the visitors after conceding but they drew level after 67 minutes. Sub Dan Agyei’s cross from the right was nodded in by Kelman, who scored for the 10th time in nine games.

Moments after Cambridge sub Shayne Lavery fired just over, Donley scored at the other end with a terrific dipping strike from the edge of the box 12 minutes from time.

Cambridge will be relegated if they fail to win at Burton on Saturday.
