Dominic Solanke believes Tottenham are “100 per cent” capable of winning the Europa League but wants to build more momentum with greater consistency in the Premier League.

Spurs produced one of the finest displays of the Ange Postecoglou era on Thursday to claim a 1-0 victory away to Eintracht Frankfurt and book a semi-final showdown with Bodo/Glimt next month.

Before Tottenham play only their second European last-four encounter for 40 years, Postecoglou’s side host Nottingham Forest on Monday before a trip to Liverpool on Sunday and midweek match-winner Solanke wants to arrest the club’s poor domestic form.

Asked if Spurs can win the Europa League, Solanke insisted: “100 per cent. When we’ve got everyone fit, we believe we can beat anyone.

“This cup was something we had our eyes on from the start of the season. We’re not far off it now so hopefully we can keep producing these performances in the cup and league throughout the rest of the season and kick on.

“We all know we need to be more consistent from game to game. When you have a game like this, you need to go out there and show no fear and get the job done.

“There’s no second chances in knock-out football so we knew we had to go and get the job done and that’s what we did.”

Spurs mixed flair with substance at a hostile Deutsche Bank Park in a way not seen enough during Postecoglou’s tenure.

Injuries have contributed to that and derailed Tottenham’s Premier League campaign, with Solanke absent for seven weeks with a knee issue before a March return.

Goals did not follow, but Spurs’ £65million forward showed supreme composure to end his 12-game drought with a 43rd-minute penalty on Thursday to silence the Frankfurt ultras behind the goal.

“This stuff happens in football. You go through phases where you don’t score for a while but it was a big moment and this is what we live for, these big games and big moments,” Solanke reflected.

“I had to stay cool to take the penalty but obviously I was delighted to score in a big game like this.

“Scoring a goal like that, obviously we’re going to be overjoyed. Yeah, ultras or not, we were just celebrating a goal, really.”

It has kept alive Spurs’ campaign – and potentially the Postecoglou project, following intense speculation over his future – but after the team shut out the noise to progress, Solanke firmly believes they can end the club’s 17-year trophy drought.

He added: “On our day we’re good enough to beat anyone. It’s just about doing that really. In cup games like this, it’s important to produce these big games and big moments. That’s what we did.

“It’s been a difficult season for all of us but we’ve got a chance to go and win something this season. It would be magnificent for all of us at the club.

“If we can carry on this way, keep everyone fit in the Europa League, hopefully we can go on to win it.”
